Your website is a collection of pages that are linked together by a common topic or that serve a specific purpose such as delivering entertainment or operating an online store. It could be as well simply establishing your online presence. Choosing how to divide the content of your website, between pages, is an important aspect of building your website. Being aware of the structure that your website will have in advance, will ease the process of quickly putting it live.
Creating a new page
To initiate the process, click the Add a Page button, located within the Pages tab, available in the left menu. Choose a Page Type, according to the general look/purpose of the page you are trying to create. Page name will be preset based on the Page Type you have selected, but you can change it to suit your requirements. Additionally you can deselect, the preselected option, to link the newly created page in the Main Navigation menu.
Upon creating a page, you have the option to automatically place it within a preexisting folder from the dropdown menu. Setting a Page URL and Description are the last settings of your page that you can configure prior to its creation. Both of the aforementioned are not mandatory but since every page must have an URL, the Page URL is set based on the Page Name.
Page URL is unique and you cannot have two pages with the same URL. Adding a page with an already existing URL, would result in a numerical suffix added at the end.
Page Settings
To access the Page Settings, just navigated to the Pages tab from menu on the left and select the cogwheel icon, next to the page, you would like to update.
You may as well access any page settings, via an existing link of the page in a navigation menu or in a Text & Images element.
The Page Name appears just inside the top section of the Page Settings panel. The Page Name is the text displayed at the top of the page and usually tells the reader what that specific page is about. The Page Name is also used to identify the page in the Pages panel.
Below the Page Name are listed details about the page size and date the page was last modified, alongside a button for quick and easy option to edit the Page Image.
In the More options section you can modify the Page URL, Page Title, Page Keywords and Description used for SEO.
In the Appearance section, you can select the colour theme of the page, the layout of the page, or enable disable optional page element such as Page Title, Additional Content. Those vary depending on the design and the Page Layout. You can also split the main content area of the site into up to 3 columns.
In Social Tools section you can choose sharing image, sharing title and sharing description. Those will display if you share the site on social media such as Facebook, LinkedIn, etc.
In Access control section you can restrict the access to the page by password and by member group. When a visitor access the page with restricted access they will see an "Authorized access required" page and a password field where they need to type the password in order to view the page. To ensure proper functionality of this feature, an SSL certificate for the domain is required. Additionally, if you would like to go with the member's group option, you will have to set it up via the Members Login application.
