Below is a list of useful terms that explains some words that are used in the location marketing world and in the application.
Directory |
This is one of the online platforms where your business information is shown. It can be social media (Facebook, Instagram), Google, GPS systems, traditional listings platforms (Yelp, Foursquare), or aggregators, which provide information to other 3rd party directories. |
Fields |
Fields capture all the different types of information about your business. Examples would be address, website, payment information, photos, social media pages, etc. Some fields are required by directories before they will publish your profile. The more fields that are completed, the better your online presence will be. |
Geo-tag |
This is when your business is tagged by someone who wants to show that they have been at your location. For example, on Instagram, when someone posts a picture and selects your business as the location as part of the post. Note that this is not the same as tagging your account or a hashtag. |
Listings |
Listings are online profiles that are posted about your company on the directories. A listing will contain all information that you have provided, as long as the directory has the ability to show it. Each location will have one listing for each directory. |
Locations |
These are your physical stores, shops, restaurants or outlets — the places that you wish your customers to visit. Each location has its own set of information in our platform. Note: if you do not have a physical place where customers visit - maybe you are a mobile business, such as doing home visits — the settings can be fixed so that you can still have an online presence without people coming to your home address. |
Profile |
Your profile is your whole business account, across all your locations. It refers to all of the information you have provided about your business, and how it has been shared across the directories in your product plan. |
Sync |
Sync is when information is shared from our platform to the directories. This can be automatic, or manual, depending on which setting you choose. Specifically, this is when we share the information — it can take up to a few days for the directories to process and publish the information online. You can check the status for each location on the Directories page. |
Visibility Index |
This is a score that reflects the accuracy of the information in your profile (as you have created on this platform) with what has been presented online in the various directories. The higher the score, the better the online visibility. |
