The Compose window is where you write and send email in Webmail. This tour walks through its main areas so you know where everything is before you send your first message.
Step 1 — Get to know the layout
Click New message to open the Compose window. It has four main areas:
- The action toolbar (blue) along the top — Attach files, Availability, Signatures, More, and Send.
- The recipient and subject fields (orange) — who the message goes to and what it's about.
- The formatting toolbar (green) — text styling, AI writing tools, and the HTML/Text toggle.
- The message body (red) — where you write your email.
Tip: Press Ctrl + Enter (Windows/Linux) or ⌘ + Enter (Mac) to send the message without reaching for the mouse.
Step 2 — Add recipients and a subject
Address your message:
- Enter the main recipient in the To field (blue).
- Click Cc or Bcc (green) to add carbon-copy or blind-copy recipients.
- Enter a short summary in the Subject field (orange).
Tip: Bcc recipients are hidden from everyone else on the message.
Step 3 — Format your message
Use the formatting toolbar (green) to style your text. It includes the AI Help me write and Refine tools on the left, font and paragraph controls, links and images, and an HTML / Text toggle on the right to switch between rich and plain text.
Tip: Use Ctrl + B, Ctrl + I, and Ctrl + U for bold, italic, and underline.
Step 4 — Attach, schedule, and send
The action toolbar gives you everything to finish the message:
- Attach files, Availability, Signatures, and More (blue) on the left.
- Send (green) on the right when you're ready to deliver it.
Tip: Use Save instead of Send to keep the message as a draft and finish it later.
